The Weekly View Attention JOY Group Members...It's Christmas in July!It is time to shop for our Christmas Project—Samaritan's Shoe Box Drive. The member who brings the most wins three prizes! Bring your items to the first JOY Group Meeting on September 13th. The following items are needed: pens pencils crayons markers writing pads coloring books socks caps (hats) balls dolls yo-yo's jump ropes slinkys sunglasses combs matchbox cars tooth brushes tooth paste soap wash clothe hair clip toy jewelry flash lights 700 Little Ones Expected in SUMC's VBS GuatemalaWow! God works in amazing ways! I just learned that next week during our Mission trip to Guaremala, the VBS Team will have the opportunity to host VBS for not just 300 children but also for 400 more children in another village - that's 700 children we will share the love of Christ with in a very real way! Thanks to your generosity, we have plenty of crafts, small toys and game supplies but there is a real need for personal hygiene items for the care packages. We would like to give each child a bar of soap, washcloth, comb or brush, hair clips & ponytail holders... How Your Open Box of Bandaids Can Make a DifferenceDid you know that 30 SUMC members are traveling to Guatemala to be the hands and feet of Christ? The team consists of 16 Youth and 14 adults. The team will join with the Mission2Guatemala program that has established relationships with the Mayans and helps coordinate incoming mission teams to prepare and serve the needs of the people of Guatemala. Daily activities include: hosting Vacation Bible School, roofing, painting, and providing a medical clinic. The team begins packing supplies next Sunday, so if each of our church family and friends grabs one item from their homes or grocery store, we should... |
